How long have you been volunteering at the Maison Mathieu Froment-Savoie, and what is your role?
I have been volunteering at the Maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie since 2016. From the start, I have worked in the laundry room, an essential role that contributes directly to patients’ comfort.
What made you want to get involved with the Maison?
The director at the time invited me to join the volunteer team. Having already volunteered for many years, I was immediately won over by the calm, friendly and warm atmosphere of the Maison. I also simply enjoy doing laundry, which makes my involvement natural and enjoyable.
What do you gain from your volunteer experience here?
For me, every gesture has deep meaning. I take great satisfaction in contributing to patients’ well-being, especially by offering them the comfort of clean, fresh sheets. This seemingly simple gesture becomes a concrete way of bringing gentleness and dignity to people at the end of life.
Is there a special moment or memory you would like to share?
I have a particularly warm memory of taking part in the Maison’s first Christmas dinner. That event allowed me to meet other volunteers and build meaningful connections within the community.
What would you say to someone thinking about volunteering at the Maison?
I would say:
“Go for it, give it a try. Do something you enjoy, and coming in to volunteer will never feel like an effort.”
My message is simple: choosing a role that suits you makes the commitment both natural and deeply rewarding.
Thank you, Anne!
